Is There Such Thing as a Partial Responsibility? The morality of an individual is an important part of the existence of the society. Although people often reject their morality when making certain choices in their lives, it still defines that the way they perceive themselves and the society surrounding them, which people are used to commit immoral actions. And, at this point, some of people often look for the excuses in order to avoid suffering the consequences of their actions. In the prologue to the Secret History by Donna Tartt, the narrator, Richard Pappin, tells the readers about the tragic event that happened to him and his friends. For instance, the legal system makes differences between people who committed a crime, the ones who assisted them, and the ones who covered the evidence or the information regarding the crime (Palese 366-371). Crimes are natural for people and crimes are fair to claim that each individual violated the law at least once in a lifetime, yet the murder is considered a critical and completely unacceptable crime. Nonetheless, murder might not be considered a crime under a variety of circumstance, for instance, during the war time or during the self-defence. Consequently, the society has a completely different view on the topic and for the majority of people who live within the frameworks of the modern society, there might exist such thing as a partial responsibility for a murder (Morton and Cook 191-204).
